VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are always welcome and needed at the Red Hat.  The time spent by volunteers increases the proceeds to our agencies by keeping expenses down.  Typical volunteer activities include:  sorting donated goods; straightening clothes racks, shelves, creating displays, etc.  Your particular strengths as a volunteer will be put to good use at the Red Hat.

Why I volunteer at The Red Hat Thrift Store

While making money for the agencies, providing job training and giving volunteers opportunities are very important, it is the voucher system that keeps me giving my time. For years I gave donations to the Shelter in hopes that the items would be used for clients. I didn’t fully comprehend how difficult it might be to make sure clients got the donations. I felt I was doing something for the residents. It made me feel like I had helped at some level. Now I know that clients are getting items they need. The ebb and flow of donations and the clients who need the donations are constantly changing. The system on the other hand is steady and sure. I can be confident when I tell others to donate to the store that their items will get into the hands of those who need them. It is an honor to be part of such an organization that meets the needs of people at so many levels. Thank you to all the volunteers who help make it happen. It truly could not happen with out your help.
